I am an
assistant professor with particular interest in sustainable development,
new growth theories, green growth, social innovation, energy and
environmental economics and socio-technical transformation. Currently,
I am serving as the head of Bostan Institute ( www.sosyalinovasyon.net ),
assistant professor at THK University ,affiliated research fellow at
the IIASA (International Institute forAdvanced System Analysis) in Laxenburg,
Austria and at SETA Foundation (Foundation
for Political, Economic and Social Research) in Ankara/Turkey.
Seyithan Ahmet
Ateş is the Co-Founder and Co-President of the Bostan Institute for Social
Innovation, an NGO with a mission to inspire, educate and empower people and
institution to build an inclusive platform for social innovation. At its core,
BOSTAN is a hub for exploring the field of social innovation and providing
up-to-date innovative solutions to the global challenges that are “moreeffective, efficient, sustainable, or just than existing solutions and forwhich the value created accrues primarily to society as a whole rather thanprivate individuals”
Along with my
teaching and research activities, I have been involved in different projects,
including energy management standardization project at UNIDO (United Nations
Industrial Development Organization) and EBRD’s (European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development) projects on renewable energy potential in
Turkey, and took part in election committee of Turkey Scholarships in
Ghana, Burundi and Ruanda.
When it comes to
my educational background, I have obtained my graduate and undergraduate
degrees both from Vienna University of Economics and PhD degree (Doktor der
Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften) from Vienna University of
Technology. In my spare time, I like paragliding and flying our self-made kite
with my children, Sude and Ahmet Kağan. We also very much like to go
hiking in the towns and mountains of Gerede, Güdül, Kızılcaham, Ayaş and
Beypazarı.
