Course Syllabus - History of Civilizations (HUM 103)

Main aim of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge and an overview of World civilizations. Students will be also able to gain knowledge of development of the civilizations from history to the present, with particular emphasis on influential personalities from each civilization. The development of civilizations will be considered in its social, political and cultural contexts. Topics include various personalities from different civilizations including Islamic, Chinese and American civilization: İbn-i Haldun, Sigmund Freud, Lao Tse, Don Juan Matus

Assessment:

Comments	% 30	Each course participant can get up to 30 points by adding comments on the web page www.kulturvebilim.com. Foreign students are required to go to www.thinqbox.org to put their comments. For each comment, you will get 2 points. Each comment is required to be at least 50 words long and include the name of the student.
Final Exam	% 40	Exam will cover all the readings in the class.
Participation	% 30	You are able to get up to 30 % for the participation.
Total:	% 100

Time is running out for Social Innovation Projects

Dear Colleagues 

On wednesday,( 30.12.2015) i will be in my office from 10.00 to 17.00, except the lunch time between 12.30 - 13.30 . 

Please come to see me to discuss your project works. There are some of you who has not sent so far the assignments in the given time period.

As of 30th of December, 5 (FIVE) packages of Social Innovation projects are required to be submitted according to the guideline.

Projects are currently being placed on the web page http://thinqbox.blogspot.com.tr/ .

Please send all overdue assignments before your visit on Wednesday. Otherwise, for the each day of late submission, 2 points will be cut from the final note.

You are free to come together or individually according to your time schedule, whenever you want between 10.00 to 17.00.

Türkiye saati ile 21 Aralık 2015 günü gece 24:00'ten sonra gönderilen özetlerden, her 24 saat için 2 (iki) puan kesilecektir. 

Mahkemeağcin Köyü Gezisi Bilgi Notu

Mahkemeağcin Köyü'ne yapacağımız gezi için bilginiz dahilinde olması gereken bazı hususlar;

• Cumartesi günü sabah saat 10:00'da üniversitenin park alanında buluşuyoruz. 
• Saat 10:00'da üniversiteden kalkan otobüsümüz, Eryaman Optimum AVM karşısındaki üst geçitin altında bekleyenleri de alacaktır.

Kültür ve Bilim Tarihi'nin bir sonraki dersini Mahkemeağcin Köyü'nde bulunan, eski insanların yaşadığı mağarada yapacağız. Dersin ilk insanları ve kültürlerini anlatan bölümünü Mahkemeağcin Köyü'nde bulunan ve yaklaşık 3 bin yıl önce zamanlar insanların yaşadığı, kayadan oyma bir mağaraya çıkarak yapacağız.
